Also, a good number of our pass out students are very successfully serving a number of renowned studios (Disney,
Pixar, Dreamworks, Polygon studio etc.) abroad, thereby establishing the acceptance of our Indian talents in the
international market. Many large and medium size studios that are operating in the domestic market as well are
extremely satisfied with the performance of our artists. Many of them after gaining considerable experience have
also started their own ventures. Not only have the alumni worked in big projects from Hollywood fame like
Avengers, Jungle Book, Life of Pi to name a few., but also in Bollywood as well. We have alumni who are working as
comic artist, art directors, compositors and many more.
THE WEBEL FUJISOFT VARA CENTRE OF
EXCELLENCE
The Webel Fujisoft Vara Centre of Excellence: Industry 4.0 is a unique and path-breaking Institution that has been set
up by the Government of West Bengal in Newtown, Kolkata. New and emerging technologies of Industry 4.0 have
the potential to radically transform the state economy and the future prospects for young graduates and
professionals, as well as MSME and Corporates. The State Government therefore conceptualized this visionary
initiative designed to transform talent development in technology as well as accelerate the development of the
MSME Sector with the objective of creating far-reaching social and economic impact.
West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Ltd. (Webel), nodal agency of the Department of
Information Technology & Electronics, Govt. of West Bengal, along with Fujisoft Inc. of Japan and Vara Technology,
India, has developed the Centre of Excellence (CoE). Fujisoft Inc. is the largest independent system integrator of
Japan with revenues over US$ 1.8 billion, and Vara Technology, India is a front runner in embracing innovation and
leveraging world class technology to deliver maximum business value to organizations.
The CoE is a triangulation of leading industry organizations, academia and technology providers. It works to create
relevant skills in the technologies of Industry 4.0, help transform organizations to meet the new challenges in today’s
rapidly changing world, connect MSMEs to a global partner network as well as help start-ups turn ideas into
businesses. The CoE works very closely with the West Bengal government, which is supporting it with infrastructure
and funding, to create a unique best-in-class facility; the first of its kind in India. This is India’s first technology
platform which brings together the technologies that define the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Four key technologies form the nucleus of the CoE activities- 3D Manufacturing (Additive Manufacturing); Data
Science, Embedded Systems, and Cyber-Security. Housed in premises covering over 18,000 square feet, the CoE has
state-of-the art infrastructure, classrooms, technologies, hardware, software and systems integration. Its IT
infrastructure has high-speed processing capabilities to run complex analytics in its Data Science Labs. The 3D
Manufacturing lab has been equipped with the latest machinery from the world’s No 1 manufacturer of 3D
machines, Stratasys from the USA. The Cyber-Security Labs are connected to a high-tech CyberRange using cutting-
edge systems for preventing the most sophisticated cyber- attacks. It uses Artificial Intelligence to predict cyber-
attack possibilities and launch defensive mechanisms.
