                                                            After  the  award  ceremony  Shri  Bratya  Basu,  Hon’ble
                                                            Minister-in-Charge,  Dept.  of  Information  Technology  &
                                                            Electronics, Govt. of West Bengal formally inaugurated the
                                                            Knowledge Workshop by lighting the lamp electronically
                                                            as well as inaugurated the Bengalathon 2018 competition.

    In his keynote address Shri Bratya Basu, Hon’ble MIC expressed immense happiness to have such a big audience in the
    Knowledge Workshop. The topic being very interesting and contemporary he hoped that there will be a lively and pro-
    active discussion ahead. He said that as guided by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Srimati Mamata Banerjee, the IT &
    Electronics Department is committed to utilise emerging technology both for social welfare as well as for economic
    growth. IoT is the key technology that will revolutionise the way of life similarly in some respect other technologies like
    Blockchain or Artificial Intelligence which will radically rewrite the landscape.

    Iot represents the logical incremental development in the
    field of advanced electronics that will greatly enhance the
    potential  of  the  current  electronics  eco  system.  Bengal
    finds the Silicon Valley, a cradle of electronics, a dream of
    the Chief Minister which will attract best of talents.

    He  observed  that  Bengal  has  a  strong  educational  eco
    system  that  creates  students  qualified  in  hardware,
    telecommunication and software programming – the key
    ingredients for an IoT specialist. Bengal is well-placed to
    take up opportunity in this exciting trade. He hoped that
    the event will increase awareness and inspire the talented   Shri Bratya Basu, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of IT & E,

    At the time of Tea break Shri Bratya Basu, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of IT & E, Govt. of West Bengal
    addressed to a press conference at a separate lounge while the sessions of the knowledge workshop continued.

    After the tea break the next session started with a speech delivered by Shri Milind Kamat, EVP & CEO at ATOS India.
    His topic was “IoT in Petrochemical & Healthcare Industry”. This was followed by a speech delivered by Shri Abir
    Banerjee, National Business Manager at HPE, Aruba, covering the topic “Hardening Security for Industrial IoT & Industry
    4.0 – Challenges & Concerns”. Shri Manish Kelkar, Director, SCM at Oracle India Pvt Ltd covered the topic “Application
    of IoT in Management of Logistics”. And Shri Gnana Kumaraswamy, Senior Product Manager, Internet of Things &
    Product  Management  at  Robert  Bosch  Engineering  and  Business  Solutions  Ltd  covered  the  topic  “Automotive
    Manufacturing Assets Can Talk!”
