Government of West Bengal as a policy has decided to spread the activities of IT to tier-II, tier-III cities in West Bengal.
State Government firmly believes that focus on IT sector will promote the huge technology potential of the local youth
and create further opportunities for employment and wealth generation for its people.
In order to encourage IT and IT based entrepreneurship, Webel under the aegis of Department of IT & Electronics has
developed IT Parks across the State of West Bengal. 14 IT Parks have been developed since 2012 and nine more have
been approved.
Malda IT Park is now fully operational and ready for occupation. With about 42,000 sq ft of built up space the G+4
facility is constructed over 0.58 acres of land. Two floors in the building are dedicated to plug and play module keeping
in mind the need of IT start-ups to remain asset light.
An interactive session on ‘How to Leverage Information Technology for Business’ was organized by the Department of
Information Technology & Electronics, Govt. of West Bengal, Webel & NASSCOM – Eastern region at Malda IT Park on

A team of officials from Department of IT & Electronics, Webel and NASSCOM conducted the program with an objective
to address the local IT entrepreneurs, make them aware of IT initiatives, IT infrastructures and skill building programs
across the State and specifically for Malda. The Officials presented their vision for IT promotion in Malda and means
local youth can benefit from the State initiatives. Representatives from NASSCOM (Eastern region) were also present
to interact with the audience.
