    The minister said the Bengal government is very much focusing on “people-centric applications” in adopting emerging
    technologies and its goal is to take these technologies to the grassroots level. According to him, the government
    wanted to make tier-II and tier-III IT cities in the state.

    “We would like to use Blockchain technology for  land records and in agriculture. We will analyse big data  using
    Blockchain,” he said, Bengal Silicon Valley had got very good response from big IT companies. “Today, close to two
    lakh people are engaged in IT sector in the state,” the minister added.

    Electronics, Govt of West Bengal, focussed on practical things done in New Town, Rajarhat – the place called ‘Singapore
    of  Kolkata’.  He  mentioned  that  as  per  the  Eco2  concept  and  theory  of  the  World  Bank,  investment  and  big
    developments occurs in a place where pollution, sustainability, the green and the general infrastructure is citizen
    friendly. New Town Rajarhat is one of the 100 smart cities of India which is also a solar city and is the first satellite city
    in India which has obtained a Gold rating from IGBC (Indian Green Building council).
