Government Sponsored Skill Development Training Projects
This initiative aims towards enhancement of employability through skill development in IT, Electronics, ITeS and
associated Sectors for beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, BPL, Minorities, OBCs, PwD, Safai
Karmacharies, Scavengers, School drop-out candidates, etc. The training cost is sponsored by the Government for
the purpose of training to uplift the lifestyle of beneficiaries by enabling them towards employability after successful
completion of training programme. This Initiative has successfully catered training to 14000 numbers of candidates
in the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura & Jharkhand

Webel has received the aforesaid Sponsored Training orders from Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, (GOI),
National Backward Class Finance & Development Corpn. (GOI), National Handicapped Finance Development Coprn.
(GOI), National SC & ST Finance & Development Coprn. (GOI), National Safai Karmachari Finance & Development
Coprn. (GOI), National Institute of Orthopedically Handicapped (GOI), Society for Unemployed Youth (GoWB), West
Bengal SC & ST Development & Finance Corpn. (GoWB), Department of Sundarban Affairs (GoWB), Ministry of
Minority Affairs(GOI), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (GOI), etc.

Webel Opsis Geomatics Academy
Webel Opsis Geomatics Academy at Salt Lake, Kolkata has been set-up to provide training to deserving candidates
in the field of GIS, Geomatics, Remote Sensing, Resistivity Survey, Alternative Energy Resource (SOLAR) & related
modules and making them employable for the Industry.
o Courses on offer are GeoSpatial Technology, Remote Sensing, GPS, GIS & Drone Technology.
o The Academy has been launched in mid-2015 and has enrolled over 210 numbers of Students in the past five
years of operations.

District Training Centers
‘District Training Centre’ Project is a social initiative of Department of IT & Electronics, Government of West Bengal
with the objective to train & build IT literate manpower in various remotely located Districts. The Project has been
funded by Department of Information Technology, GoWB. The space is allotted by the offices of District Magistrate
on request from the Office of the Department of Information Technology, Government of W.B.
o Training Centers have been set up in districts under the supervision of Webel in the premises of District
Administration in the Districts of Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Malda, North Dinajpur, North 24 Pgs, Nadia,
Hooghly, Murshidabad, Birbhum and Purulia.
o Courses on offer are Hardware & Networking and Advanced Hardware & Networking, Mobile Repairing,
Entrepreneurship Development, Sales & Marketing, PC, TV (LED/ LCD) & Projector Maintenance, Preparation
for DOE ‘O’, ‘A’& ‘CCC’ Level Courses.
o The Academy has successfully enrolled over 1500 numbers of Students in the past eight years of Operations
