While talking about the physical infrastructure she noted that Bengal
has taken the IT infrastructure support to district level by setting 18 IT
parks in the districts.

She also discussed various issues on how Webel plans to adapt to the
challenge and expressed interest to upskill the children of the state for
the future to come besides re-skilling the employees.

47th WEBEL FOUNDATION DAY

The 47 Foundation day of Webel was celebrated on 4 February 2021 at Webel Bhavan premises. Webel was

incorporated on 4 February, 1974 to shape the Electronics Industry in West Bengal. Since inception, in line
with the vision of the Government of West Bengal, Webel has been consistently playing a pioneering role in
Infrastructure Development, Training, Skill Building, IT Promotion and initiating several E-Gov projects in West
Bengal. The foundation day has first time been celebrated in presence of all units and Webel family members.

The celebration started with a heart-warming speech by Shri Rajeev
Kumar, IPS, Principal Secretary to the Department of IT & Electronics. He
referred to an old story where the parents always wanted to do well in
their lives but they wanted their children to do even better. And as a
guardian, from the departments side expressed similar wish saying that,
“As a Department we want to do well, but we want Webel to do far
better than us”.

The celebration continued with the speech of Smt. Smita Pandey, IAS, Secretary to the Department of IT &
Electronics, Government of West Bengal and Managing Director of Webel. She focused on the ‘W’ of Webel
and noted that there are four ‘W’ towards which Webel can look forward.

The first is ‘Work’. Everyone at Webel has to work very hard in order to be the digital leader of the world.

The second is ‘Worthy’. She said that we have to be worthy and prove ourselves. Each one of us have to strive
very hard to be worthy to be a part of this organization. So let us give our best to the organization.
